UCL STEaPP & CEE

UCL STEaPP

The Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy (STEaPP), is part of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences at UCL.

Founded in 2013, STEaPP aims to mobilise science, technology, engineering and policy expertise to help to change the world for the better. The department creates a space for a diverse range of academics, policymakers, practitioners and science and engineering experts to come together and apply their knowledge to tackling some of the world’s most complex challenges.

In 2021, STEaPP was recognised as ‘world-leading’ in the Research Excellent Framework 2021, as part of a joint submission with the Department of Security and Crime Science.

UCL CEE

Both an active participant in the global engineering community and an observatory for that community, we seek to be a catalyst, partnering with others and providing a platform for debate and action to demonstrate engineering’s contribution to a sustainable future.

The Centre engages with the fundamental question for transitions into and through engineering; at what point does a person become an engineer?

The world needs more engineers. Partnering with others, the Centre will support and engage in projects that release the resources and world-leading capabilities of UCL to enthuse and inspire potential engineers.
